5 Shows to Binge Watch When ‘Supernatural’ Season 12 Ends

Supernatural Season 12 will wrap next month. There’s less than four weeks left, with the season finale airing on May 18 with a two-hour special.

Personally I can’t wait to see how this season wraps. There are two storylines that can take the main focus, unlike previous years when there has been one main focus. I can’t tell which one will be used throughout the season finale, but suspect that it will be Lucifer’s spawn.

Regardless, when it comes to an end, there will be a few months to wait for Supernatural Season 13. So, we need to find something to do, right? Sure, there are old episodes of the Winchesters to watch, but what about something different?

Well, I’m bringing you five shows that you need to binge watch when Supernatural Season 12 ends. Even if you’ve seen them before, watch them again. I guarantee there will be something you missed!

‘Charmed’

There’s no denying that the Winchesters was successful because of the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. The latter especially helped to cement the idea that magic and demons didn’t have to be the sole focus for a TV show. Charmed included the family element and in season six introduced two brothers that fans hoped would carry a spinoff.

While the show has come to an end, it still has a special place in the hearts of fans. With Netflix and other streaming services, younger fans are just finding out about it. There are many life lessons to learn from Charmed, so make sure it’s added to your “binge watch list.”

‘The OA’

Have you seen this Netflix original yet? If not, you need to tune in. I’m only into the first few episodes and I’m already intrigued. There is so much happening and it certainly has a supernatural element to the show.

I can’t give much away—not only would that mean spoilers but I haven’t seen all of it yet. There is some excellent acting and you’ll find yourself guessing from the very first moment of the pilot.

‘Firefly’

Oh how this show should have had another season at least. The one-hit wonder didn’t get much support from its network. Joss Whedon wanted it to be much darker than it was and Fox watched a certain couple to be together (and Whedon said categorically no).

Buffy and Angel fans will see plenty of familiar faces. It may only be one short season but you’ll get plenty of laughs and questions. The movie Serenity continues the storyline, wrapping up everything neatly.

‘Once Upon a Time’

I’m not sure how long this show will have left on ABC, but it is one that you need to start watching today. It’s not the perfect replacement for Supernatural, but it does come close. Learn the fairy tales in ways that you’ve never seen them before.

One thing that allured me to this show was the idea of fairy tales characters not quite being what they seem. After an evil curse sweeps the Enchanted Forests, it’s up to the child of Snow White and Prince Charming to restore the memories to the people of Storybrooke.

The Arrowverse

I actually can’t decide which part of the Arrowverse you’ll enjoy more as a Supernatural fan. For me, I prefer Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. I’m not the biggest fan of The Flash and I can’t quite get into Supergirl but my daughter loves it to pieces! Maybe I’m biased with Arrow because I love how well Jared Padalecki and Stephen Amell get on.

Whichever of the four shows you decide to start with, you need to binge watch. Since they’re all on the CW, the most current seasons will be on Netflix in June so you can get caught up before they return in October 2017. I’d suggest starting with Arrow since it started the universe.

Supernatural Season 12 will wrap on May 18. The great news is that we also have a date for it coming to Netflix!
